The current version
of BlackCoat
Classic is the 5th rendition of the garment that launched
Koyono. Founder, Jay Yoo, was travelling the world, working for a large
corporation. He needed clothing and accessories that made it easy to
move through airports, time zones, climates, and situations while
always looking good. Jay might travel from a Northern Hemisphere winter
to a Southern Hemisphere monsoon season on any given trip. He couldn't
find outerwear that had the environmental capabilities of his North
Face jacket and the styling that worked with a suit or in a club after
work.
The traditional
trench coats that he found looked OK with a suit
but really couldn't be worn with jeans and had the pocketing for a era
when all a man needed to carry was a wallet and keys.
Jay Yoo designed
the BlackCoat
Classic to be the perfect outerwear for business, travel, and
nightlife. It is cut to be worn with a suit coat but drape beautifully
when you wear nothing but jeans and a T-shirt. The materials and
workmanship make it both rugged and elegant. This is the most
utilitarian piece of fashion you are likely to ever own.
Since the first design the materials, cut, pocketing,
and style have been refined into what we consider the only overcoat
that balances style performance and utility to make life on the go
stylish, easy and fun.
