The color blue has an interesting history. Cave paintings from 20,000 years ago lacked the color, and it was famously not mentioned at all in Homer’s Odyssey (8 BC). How could such a prominent color in the natural world (sky and ocean) not be observed? Some argue humans were colorblind and could not pick up on hues of blue.

About 6,000 years ago, Egyptians stumbled on Lapis, a semiprecious blue stone mined in Afghanistan, made it a prized possession and were the first to record it in history.

bolstr celebrates the beauty of blue, especially indigo, which inspired our Lunar Blue colorway.

We fittingly chose the Loomis Observatory (Hudson, OH) as the location, which is the oldest observatory in the United States, and collaborated with Caij Milan on styling the shoot.
