BlackCoat Surf SYD | Inspired by thework-play attitude of Sydney, Australia. 

BlackCoat Surf SYD is the same short sleeve jacket as BlackCoat Surf MFI, minus the iPod controls.  Of course, you can upgrade SYD with Elektex iPod controls at any time.  

Worn over a shirt or tank, SYD gives you a place to stowe belongings you would otherwise have to drop in a bag or dangle off of you somehow. This makes it the perfect travel jacket for warm climates.

Like all BlackCoat designs, the BlackCoat Surf SYD has a subtle, yet distinctive appearance and is made from the latest fabric technology. A breathable stretch cotton with Nano-Tex water repellent technology makes this jacket impervious to water, spills, and stains while maintaining both the soft feel of worn-in cotton and the ruggedness of denim. BlackCoat SYD is available in Black or Sandstone.

cut a bit short February 21, 2012

I do a lot of traveling in the summer and got this for planes and occasional night breezes. Looks like it'll do the trick.
The only problem is the length. I'm 6' and wear an XL. The jacket fits me, snugly, but my family tells me it looks goofy when buttoned. Looks good when worn open (you can see from the pictures). But it seems cut for a shorter guy. I could really use another 2" or so of length at the waist. Maybe you can make a long version? Or would the XXL be a bit longer?

The Story
This jacket was inspired by a trip to Venice Beach when we were in LA for the MTV Movie awards in 2004. The mornings and evenings were a little cool and I wanted a lightweight jacket to carry a few extra gadgets and and still look good. A vest simply was not going to cut it! We were not going fishing - we were strolling Rodeo Drive and partying with the stars. BlackCoat Surf just seemed like a cool idea. Judge for yourself. Water repellant BTW.
